PROJECT 6: DESIGN HISTORY LAYOUT WORKSHEET

Subject: El Lissitzky

What is the major historical significance of this individual? Summarize this in two sentences:

He was a Russian artist, designer, photographer, typographer, polemicist and architect.  Lissitzy was also heavily involved in designing propaganda during the Russian Revolution and an important figure of the Russian avant garde.

  • Brief description of the piece/project: The red wedge symbolizes the bolshvicks, who are penetrating and defeating their opponent.
  • Why is this work historically important? Propaganda poster for the soviets.

The images should measure at least 3” in each direction and print reasonably well. If in doubt, search Google for “large images” or scan images at 300 dpi.

Write three possible titles for an article about this individual. Remember, a title should intrigue the casual looker and help to turn them into a reader; it should refer to the content and entice people. Be creative here.
